Carving and finishing
- Clamp the workpiece flat on the spoilboard or secure it with double-sided tape, and set the origin as shown in the carving assistant.
- Clear the large numerals 1 mm deep with the 0.8 mm end mill, engrave minutes, ticks and 13–24 with the V-bit, finally cut out the holes, hands and face.
- Free the parts at the holding tabs with a utility knife or fine saw and sand the tab remains flush.
- Lightly break the edges with sandpaper (grit 120, then 240) and remove burrs.
Assembly and final touches
- Paint the minute hand in a different colour from the hour hand, for example blue and red.
- Push the screw through the face from the back, then add washer, hour hand, washer, minute hand, washer and wing nut; tighten only so far that the hands still turn.
