Also: sandpaper (grit 120 and 240), a utility knife or fine saw and, for joints, a rubber mallet.
Carving and finishing
- Clamp the workpiece flat on the spoilboard or secure it with double-sided tape, and set the origin as shown in the carving assistant.
- Cut out all blocks and the base plate with the 6 mm end mill (32 mm cutting length).
- Free the parts at the holding tabs with a utility knife or fine saw and sand the tab remains flush.
- Ease all edges slightly, but leave the standing faces flat.
Assembly and final touches
- Paint the blocks in bright colours. Players take turns using one hand: each puts a block on the tower on the base plate; whoever makes it collapse has lost.
- Finally oil, wax or varnish; for toys use oils or varnishes that are saliva-resistant according to EN 71-3.
