With the workpiece photo you see the real material under your drawing: knots, edges, offcuts or existing prints. You can place the design exactly where it belongs. The window opens via Workpiece → Workpiece photo … (in laser mode Workpiece → Camera: photo of the material …).
Take a photo
- With your phone: connect the phone via the QR code (Machine menu, phone as handwheel). On the phone there is a Photo tab. Tap Take photo and the picture arrives on the PC directly. This only works over the direct connection on the same Wi-Fi.
- Camera on this computer: webcam or tablet camera. Good when it is mounted above the work area.
- From a file: an existing photo.
Take the photo as straight from above as you can, with all four corners of the material in the picture. The front edge is at the bottom of the photo. A slightly angled shot is fine; the app removes the perspective.
Tap the corners
Drag the four points exactly onto the corners of the material. The thick line is the front edge, the filled point the front-left corner. While dragging, a magnifier shows the spot enlarged; arrow keys nudge a point (with Shift in larger steps).
If the photo was taken from the side, Rotate corners moves the assignment one side on. Apply rectifies the photo to the material size (Workpiece menu → Material and size). If that size is wrong, the photo is distorted, so enter the correct width and height first.
The underlay
The photo lies on the material and under the grid and shapes. In the window you set the opacity, hide the photo or remove it. The Workpiece menu also has Show workpiece photo and Remove workpiece photo.
The photo stays on this device only and belongs to the project. It does not go into the project file or to the server. Next time you clamp material, simply take a new one.
